
Having had numerous animated discussions with mates and colleagues about organising some fine dining, quality wine and some laughs courtesy of some comedic entertainment, I decided that words were no longer going to cut it – the time for action was now.</p>
Within a week or two we had assembled a fine Committee that was to go on and form the Irvine Club. The challenge was to spread the idea that we intended to host two lunches a year with a preferred sporting entertainment focus and pass all profits back to a different charity each occasion.
All of us have been touched in varying degrees by losing loved ones to suicide so we felt that it would be fitting to support the Beyond Blue Charity.
The venue was the quirky Kelvin Club where 69 guests were entertained by MC Erin Klein, AFL legends Neil Balme and Brian Taylor and comic Dave Grant. The wall mounted stuffed birds and wall to wall oak panelling inspired us to ensure that this Irvine tradition must be one to endure.
